Since joining International Rivers in October 2021, I've applied my communications expertise to environmental advocacy efforts, resulting in significant, tangible outcomes.
The Marañón River campaign exemplifies my ability to craft strategic communications that directly contribute to policy victories. I developed compelling narratives that simplified complex legal proceedings, making them accessible to diverse stakeholders. These efforts helped secure a landmark lawsuit victory, protecting the river from harmful development. This campaign illustrates how effective communications can turn environmental advocacy into concrete legal and policy achievements.
The BioBío Declaration of Rights is another cornerstone of my advocacy work. I led the communications strategy for this groundbreaking initiative, creating messaging that conveyed the innovative legal framework of the rights of nature while respecting Indigenous perspectives. Through the development of multilingual content that honored cultural nuances and traditional knowledge, I ensured the declaration resonated with both local communities and international audiences. The campaign successfully positioned the BioBío Declaration as a model for similar initiatives globally, cementing International Rivers as a thought leader in the evolving field of river rights.
These campaigns showcase my comprehensive approach to advocacy communications, integrating strategic messaging, community engagement, and policy expertise to achieve measurable environmental protection outcomes while amplifying the voices of frontline communities. The images in this section highlight some of the tools used with coalitions to manage and deliver project communications effectively.
